As a historian, I try and carry out as much original research as possible and remind myself to look at the various aspects of the war I am studying with fresh eyes.
As a writer, I want to produce books that are always entertaining, easy to read and follow, and which contain damn good stories.
Not many people write both fiction and non-fiction, but I like doing both, and although I studied history at university, (and continue to do so), my first book was was actually a novel.
